HARTFORD — State Rep. Kelvin Roldán on Thursday switched plans for a mayoral bid and announced that he will run for City Treasurer’s office in November.
Roldán, a three-term State Representative and Deputy Majority Leader in the General Assembly.
In his announcement to the press, he outlined plans he would implement if elected.
“With the right leadership, the City Treasurer’s Office can be a powerful force in improving the lives of Hartford residents,” he said. “As City Treasurer, I will adopt investment policies that leverage the hundreds of millions of tax dollars the City puts into long and short term investments to create new jobs.”
As one of nine children raised in Stowe Village by a single mother, I learned early the importance of accountability, responsibility and public service.
If elected, I will take immediate steps to foster a new level of accountability in the Treasurer’s Office, to turn it into the ‘watchdog’ agency it must be in order to make sure Hartford residents come first.
Hartford City Councilman Calixto Torres and former State Rep. Kenneth Green are serving as Co-Chairs of his campaign for Treasurer. Arts executive Ken Kahn will continue to serve as his campaign treasurer.
