Manchester Community College to Hold Regional Job Fair


MANCHESTER — Manchester Community College will hold its annual regional job fair on April 6 on its campus.

The Manchester Community College Regional Job Fair will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary of matching job seekers with prospective employees.

The job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is co-sponsored by Manchester Community College, the Connecticut Department of Labor, the MCC Foundation, and the Journal Inquirer.

“The Connecticut Department of Labor and Manchester Community College have a longstanding partnership and a history of bringing together job seekers and prospective employers,” explains State Labor Commissioner Scott Jackson. “While at the Manchester Community College Regional Career Fair, visitors will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from 50 companies that are offering positions in management, manufacturing, medical, technical and a variety of other fields.”

Admission for jobseekers is free.

Employers wishing to participate in the career fair can register, either by visiting the Labor Department’s website at www.ctjobfairs.com.

Connecticut Labor Department to Hold Fall Job Fair


WETHERSFIELD – The Connecticut Department of Labor will hold its annual fall career fair series starting this month.

On Sept. 20, there will be Heroes 4 Hire South event in Bridgeport, followed by an Octo. 11 Middlesex County Career fair in Cromwell and an Oct. 27 Diverse Ability Career Fair in Waterbury.

“With more than 19 years of experience in providing job and career services to Connecticut residents, the Labor Department is recognized as a leader in offering effective, well-organized events to help match companies with quality employees,” explains State Labor Commissioner Scott D. Jackson. “Our career fairs have attracted thousands of jobseekers and hundreds of businesses, and many have made very successful employment connections.”

Locations of the career fairs and hours are:

*   Heroes 4 Hire South: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 20, Wheeler Recreation Center, University of Bridgeport, 126 Park Avenue.
*   Middlesex County Career Fair: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 11 Radisson Hotel Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell.
*   Diverse Ability Career Fair: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 27, Courtyard By Marriott, Downtown Waterbury, 63 Grand Street, Waterbury.

There is no cost to jobseekers attending the events and parking in convenient and free. All three fairs will include hands-on assistance from Labor Department employees who will help visitors develop and critique their résumés. Visitors can also receive information about finding a new job, changing careers or using employment services at their local American Job Center.

Employer registration includes an exhibit table at the event, program guide listing, radio, newspaper and Internet advertising, and advertisements at the American Job Centers, veterans’ centers, local libraries and community organizations. For companies planning to attend the Heroes 4 Hire South or Middlesex County career fairs, registration is $300, while the Diverse Ability Career Fair is $200. An additional $25 is charged for each event where electricity is required.

CT Job Fair : ‘Heroes for Hire’


WETHERSFIELD —  Connecticut veterans planning to attend the upcoming 10th Annual Heroes 4 Hire Career Fair are invited to stop by the Connecticut Department of Labor’s American Job Centers on March 10 for a series of special skills preparation workshops.

Staff from the agency’s Office for Veterans’ Workforce Development will present a one hour-long workshop entitled, Career Fair Success: Prepare, Perform and Follow Through at 1 p.m. in each of the following American Job Center locations:  Bridgeport, Hamden, Hartford, New London, Norwich, Waterbury and Willimantic.

The workshop topics will include effective preparation skills and follow-up strategies. “There is no fee for attending; however, we do ask that anyone wishing to take part arrive early,” explains State Labor Commissioner Sharon Palmer.

More than 80 companies and organizations are expected to exhibit at the 10th AnnualHeroes 4 Hire Career Fair, March 25 at Rentschler Field Ballroom in East Hartford. The event, which in the past attracted more than 2,000 visitors, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Healthcare Company Holds Job Fair in CT


Medical practitioners will have a chance to meet face to face with potential employers at the ADVANCE Healthcare Job Fair next month in Hartford.

The Pennsylvania-based medical company will be making its stop in Hartford, at the Connecticut Convention Center on March 4.

Organizers said that thier job fairs offer a large number of jobs in a number of different healthcare fields – from nursing and radiology to respiratory care, rehab and the medical lab. Students and professionals have the chance to meet and greet representatives from a variety of hiring facilities.

Attendees can distribute their resume, collect information, interview and apply for jobs on the spot. With so many employers present who are looking to find qualified staff now and for the future, organizers said.

Attendees can also take part in five hours of free Educational Sessions on vital healthcare topics. Free refreshments are served and attendees are eligible for free games and prizes. Some of the prizes include a Visa gift card, cash and a portable DVD player.
