Manchester Community College to Hold Regional Job Fair

MANCHESTER — Manchester Community College will hold its annual regional job fair on April 6 on its campus.

The Manchester Community College Regional Job Fair will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary of matching job seekers with prospective employees.

The job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is co-sponsored by Manchester Community College, the Connecticut Department of Labor, the MCC Foundation, and the Journal Inquirer.

“The Connecticut Department of Labor and Manchester Community College have a longstanding partnership and a history of bringing together job seekers and prospective employers,” explains State Labor Commissioner Scott Jackson. “While at the Manchester Community College Regional Career Fair, visitors will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with representatives from 50 companies that are offering positions in management, manufacturing, medical, technical and a variety of other fields.”

Admission for jobseekers is free.

Employers wishing to participate in the career fair can register, either by visiting the Labor Department’s website at www.ctjobfairs.com.

Connecticut Department of Labor Sponsors Job Fair

WETHERSFIELD — More than 35 employers will be on hand in Waterbury to meet with job seekers and discuss employment opportunities during a Diverse Ability Career Fair.

The event will be held Oct. 29 at the Courtyard by Marriott 63 Grand St., Waterbury.

The job fair, “Build a Diverse Workforce – Boost Your Bottom Line,” is a free event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,  looking for employment opportunities, as well as a resource fair for employers interested in learning about recruitment and training resources, and available support services when hiring employees with disabilities.

Sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor and the Department of Rehabilitation Services, along with partners Northwest Regional Workforce Board and the Connecticut Business Leadership Network, the event features a career fair from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.,

Résumé Critique/Practice Interview session for job seekers from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a “Making Section 503 Work for You” workshop for employers at 2 p.m.

In addition, ongoing résumé critiques will be offered throughout the career fair and American Sign Language interpreters will be onsite.

Job Fair for Veterans Set for March

WETHERSFIELD — The state Department of Labor has scheduled a series of career fairs, including two events geared for veterans, starting in March at several sites, including East Hartford and Cromwell.

Certified professional resume writers from the labor department will  be at each career fair to review and critique resumes, and to offer employment tips and suggestions, according to a department press release.

Additionally, DOL employees will lead a series of information sessions about services and free workshops offered at American Job Center offices.

These workshops include re-employment strategies and job search techniques, computer skills, and hiring incentive programs such as Connecticut’s Subsidized Training and Employment Program (Step Up), which provides wage and training subsidies to employers that hire an unemployed jobseeker.

DOL advises jobseekers to bring ample resumes and schedule enough time to meet with every company representative they have identified as a potential employer.

The jobs fairs for veterans are:
Heroes 4 Hire: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 21 – Rentschler Field Ballroom, 615 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
Veterans’ Fair: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 19 – Ethan Allen Hotel, 21 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury (hotel ballroom).
Other job fairs will be held at the following sites:
Danbury Career Fair: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 3 – Ethan Allen Hotel, 21 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury (hotel ballroom).
MCC Regional Job Fair: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 21 – Manchester Community College Gymnasium, 60 Bidwell St., Manchester.
Middlesex County: 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., June 17 – Crowne Plaza, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell.

Labor Department to Hold Job Fairs

WETHERSFIELD — This fall, the Connecticut Department of Labor is offering opportunities to connect with employers who are hiring.

The Department will offer two career fairs in Cromwell and Danbury.

The first one on Sept. 13 at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, and the second on Oct. 29 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell.  The Danbury event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the Cromwell fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 “With more than 15 years of experience in providing job and career fair services to our residents, the Labor Department is recognized as a leader in offering well-organized events that attract quality companies looking to expand their workforce,” said Labor Commissioner Sharon M. Palmer.  “Each fall, our career fair series attracts thousands of jobseekers and hundreds of businesses looking to make an employment connection.  Since 1997 we have been dedicated to providing quality fairs, and earning the distinction of organizing some of this state’s most successful recruiting events.”

There is no cost for job seekers to attend, and parking is convenient and free.  Both fairs will include professional résumé writers from the Labor Department to assist with résumé development and employment workshops offering tips and information on finding a new job or changing careers.

Employer registration fee is $475 for the Danbury Career Fair and $275 for employers planning to attend the Middlesex Career Fair.  Employer registration includes an exhibit table, lunches for employers, company sign, program guide listing, radio, newspaper and Internet advertising, and advertisements at CTWorks and veterans’ centers, and local libraries and community organizations.
