Job Fair for Veterans Set for March

WETHERSFIELD — The state Department of Labor has scheduled a series of career fairs, including two events geared for veterans, starting in March at several sites, including East Hartford and Cromwell.

Certified professional resume writers from the labor department will  be at each career fair to review and critique resumes, and to offer employment tips and suggestions, according to a department press release.

Additionally, DOL employees will lead a series of information sessions about services and free workshops offered at American Job Center offices.

These workshops include re-employment strategies and job search techniques, computer skills, and hiring incentive programs such as Connecticut’s Subsidized Training and Employment Program (Step Up), which provides wage and training subsidies to employers that hire an unemployed jobseeker.

DOL advises jobseekers to bring ample resumes and schedule enough time to meet with every company representative they have identified as a potential employer.
