HARTFORD — A single-car accident killed three people in Hartford this morning at the corner of Tower Avenue and Hampton Street.
Police said that at about 3: 50 a.m., a 2000 Nissan Altima hit a tree in the area of 236 Tower Ave., near Keney Park.
There were four people in the car. One occupant of the vehicle, Ladisha Williams, 17 years old of Hartford, was extricated and transported to Saint Francis Hospital where she is listed in stable condition, according to police. The Hartford Fire Department continued extrication efforts but the other three occupants of the vehicle, Shakela Patterson, 19, of Hartford, Anthony Smith, 22, of Hartford, and Carlos Diaz, 22, of Hartford, were all presumed dead by emergency personnel, police said.
According to News 8 Reporter Kent Pierce the car’s impact on the tree was so hard, it split the car in half.
